Product Description

The MC-series platforms are available in both ± 1.0" (± 25 mm) and ± 0.5″ (± 12.5 mm) travel with a circular pattern, offered in both manual and stepper motorized versions. Conversion from micrometers to stepper motors can be completed in 15 minutes at the user’s site, as detailed in the user’s manual.

The MC-series ranges from the large MC3000, through the MC2000, to the smaller MC1500, and the compact MC1000. Unique features include a ±2° tilt adjustment on the top flange, and the ability to mount the X-axis micrometer (or motor) on either side, which is standard.

Expandable

One key advantage of the MC3000 is the cost savings when long Z Axis strokes are required. Since only the bellows in the XY portion need to be larger than the probe, users can extend the Z Axis stroke using a smaller diameter (and less costly) bellows that clears the probe. Custom configurations are also available to meet specific requirements.

For horizontal mounting (with flange faces vertical), dual constant force counterbalance springs are available to compensate for gravitational loads. This feature can be added in the field, after accurately determining the weight of the mounted devices.

To select a model, add the total travel required in the X or Y axis to the maximum diameter of the device passing through the MC3000. This sum determines the minimum bellows inside diameter (ID).

Next, select the bottom flange that best matches your chamber or equipment. The most common size is 8″ OD (CF150), but tapped or non-tapped flange sizes of 10″ (CF200), 12″ (CF250), and larger are available. Consult the factory for additional information.

Finally, select the Z-axis translator that best matches your device to complete your XYZ sample manipulator.
